The Eco committee of the society have tirelessly worked with the organic farming program and we are all beginning to enjoy the fruits of their efforts. The fruit trees in the garden have begun to bear fruits while the flowers have bloomed to add colour to our home. On Sundays, the children that come for weekly tuition are given short activities such as, to water the plants, how to make organic fertilizer, plant seeds etc. This is aimed to create love for the environment and importance of sustainability.
It is the ambition of the organic farming committee to develop a community farming at our premise. This is with the aim to empower the unfortunate community to make a living while getting their hands dirty and receive therapeutic energies while working with nature. We have land in our present premise that is already being cultivated with fruits and vegetables. Anyone with expertise and know how in this field are most welcomes to share knowledge and participate in this program. We are looking forward to teaming up with argriculture related institute or companies to develop this project further. Please visit us at our premise on Sunday mornings or email us.

In March 2013, four single mothers from the less fortunate background qualified to participate in a three month course for bridal, facial, grooming and tailoring. Power Malaysia an accredited body of the Ministry of Women Family and Community Development facilitated this program. The women empowerment committee of the society organised and coordinated the logistics of these women to participate in the course. Since the course was run in Puchong daily transportation for these women was a challenge as our society does not have its own vehicle to transport people for the activities as such. It is normally council member and volunteers that help transport old folks or children for event/programs.
The 4 ladies passed their course and displayed greater confidence and carry themselves much better after completing their 3 months course. The committee has put in a lot of hours to continuously motivating and counseling these ladies to see them through this course. We are proud that we have been given the opportunity to assist these 4 single mothers (from our food distribution program) to step up and uplift themselves with the new skill and knowledge.
Our mission to empower them to move up and move out of the poverty cycle has seen small success. Since 2011 we have managed to empower 22 needy ladies through various programs such as 1Azam etc. We welcome members of public, organisation and corporate bodies to come forward and support us to continue empowering more needy ladies cum single mothers. Collectively we can reach out to the mass and make a difference. Everyone deserves to have a good life.
Any job placement or programs that can continue to develop them is most welcomed. We are in dire need of a vehicle to transport the participants for various activities. You can contact us via email or visit us at our center on Sunday mornings.

Educate and Be Free, Organise and Be Strong – Sree Narayana Guru

6th April 2014 the society conducted a motivational and awareness program for the needy youths at its center.

DSP Supramaniam, Deputy OCPD Tanjung Malim shared with the youths statistics of crimes amongst youth and the adverse implications of getting into crime. The aim of this session was to create an awareness to the youth to stay off from crime even, if it seems to be the easy route to making money etc.

The program was then followed up by an international motivational speaker Mr Muruka Nathan, who then pressed upon the benefits of getting an education. Also how to set targets and how to achieve it. He also shared techniques of positive affirmation and memory techniques.

The program ended with the society recognizing two students who excelled in their PMR with straight As. Monthly food provisions were also given out at this program to 25 families. The society needs funds and support to continue these projects.Members of the public are welcomed to come forward to support these projects by becoming a sponsors or as volunteers.

Clear Vision

Centraid Guru Dharma Society’s welfare arm organised two mobile medical Eye camps this term. The first eye camp was held in the Rumah Orang-orang Tua Seri Setia Petaling Jaya in early June 2013. Hussein Onn Eye Hospital and APEX jointly organised this program with the society. 66 resident old folks were given an opportunity to have a complete eye check with special focus on cataract conditions. APEX offered to sponsor cataract operations for the old folks that required it and wished to do so. Bring the check up to the home made it possible for us to extend this check up to a larger number of old folks.

Two weeks from the first Eye camp, the society together with their partners ran another mobile Eye camp at PJS Community hall. Hussein Onn Eye Hospital brought its mobile eye clinic van to the vicinity where all the people from the vicinity got a chance to have a complete eye check. Obstetrical & Gynecological Society also joined this event to conduct free pap smear and breast test for the needy ladies. Volunteer doctors and nurses conducted general medical check up at this event. A total of 276 people i.e. the lesser fortunate from the vicinity participated in this medical camp.

The society makes it a point to run at least one free mobile medical camp for the benefit of the needy every year. The Medical camp to date includes general health check up, women’s health awareness program on breast and cervical cancer, dental and eye care. We welcome organisations to join us to run future medical camps for the needy as well as to sponsor the events. You may do this as your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects. Together we can touch lives and make a difference. Contact us via email or visit us at our center on Sunday mornings.

Sree Narayana Guru

Nārāyana Guru (1856–1928), also known as Sree Nārāyana Guru Swami, was a Hindu saint, sadhu and social reformer of India. Gurudevan, as he was fondly known to his followers, led Reform movement in Kerala, revolted against casteism and worked on propagating new values of freedom in spirituality and of social equality, thereby transforming the Kerala society and as such he is adored as a prophet.
Nārāyana Guru is revered for his Vedic knowledge, poetic proficiency, openness to the views of others, non-violent philosophy and his resolve to set aright social wrongs. Nārāyana Guru was instrumental in setting the spiritual foundations for social reform in today’s Kerala and was one of the most successful social reformers who tackled caste in India. He demonstrated a path to social emancipation without invoking the dualism of the oppressed and the oppressor.
Guru stressed the need for the spiritual and social upliftment of the downtrodden by their own efforts through the establishment of temples and educational institutions.
